BAC invests RM600 million to build regional manufacturing hub in Nilai

Global sustainable cooling solutions provider BAC is significantly expanding its presence in the Asia Pacific region with a US$150 million (approximately RM614 million) investment to construct a new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Nilai, Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia. This strategic move aims to bolster the company's manufacturing, innovation, and engineering capacities across the APAC region over the next decade.

The new facility, spanning 18.2 acres, will be developed in two phases. Phase one, scheduled for completion by the end of 2027, will include a 30,000 square meter manufacturing plant and regional engineering and manufacturing offices. Phase two will focus on establishing a research and development (R&D) center and implementing advanced manufacturing technologies, with the entire facility expected to be fully operational by 2030.

This expansion will enhance BAC's production capacity for a range of cooling products, including closed-loop cooling towers, adiabatic coolers, hybrid cooling systems, and liquid cooling solutions. The company anticipates that the facility will strengthen its supply chain, shorten delivery times, and better meet customer demand in key sectors such as data centers, industrial applications, and commercial infrastructure throughout the APAC region.

Malaysia's role in BAC's long-term global growth strategy is underscored by this investment. Zuaida Abdullah, Deputy CEO of Investment Development at the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), stated that BAC's investment reflects global investors' confidence in Malaysia as a high-value, sustainable manufacturing destination. She added that the project not only strengthens the national industrial ecosystem but also supports high-growth sectors and promotes energy-efficient technologies, creating high-skilled jobs and opportunities for local SMEs.

BAC President Don Fetzer emphasized the company's commitment to expanding its manufacturing footprint and enhancing innovation capabilities to support its global customer base with sustainable cooling solutions. The facility will also house the first climate-controlled product development and testing laboratory in the APAC region, enabling local engineering teams to develop and validate cooling technologies specifically suited for tropical climates and high-density applications.
