Bacău Bypass Remains Open to Traffic. CNAIR: "Contractor Can Perform Works Not Requiring Closure"

The National Company for Road Infrastructure Administration (CNAIR) announced on Tuesday, July 14, that traffic on the Bacău Bypass will not be closed at this time. This decision comes after initial announcements of restrictions related to connecting the road with new sections of the A7 highway.

CNAIR stated that the construction company is able to carry out works that do not necessitate a traffic shutdown. Consequently, drivers can currently transit the Bacău Bypass without restrictions. The company will determine future closure periods based on the progress of the works and will provide advance notification to the public.

Previously, the Regional Directorate for Road Management and Construction (DRDP) Iași had indicated that the Bacău Bypass (part of A7) would be temporarily closed starting Wednesday, July 15. This measure was requested by the contractor to facilitate the connection with new A7 highway segments and was approved by CNAIR and the General Inspectorate of Romanian Police (IGPR) for the period of July 15 to August 31, 2026.

The Bacău Bypass has a total length of 30.70 kilometers, with 16.27 kilometers built to highway standards and overlapping with the A7 route. The section opened to traffic in December 2020. The contract for the bypass's construction was signed in August 2018 with the Spedition UMB SRL – Tehnostrade SRL association for 668.3 million lei, excluding VAT.
