Badejo-Okusanya seeks unity after emerging NBA President-elect

Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, has emerged as the President-elect of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), vowing to foster an inclusive and unified legal community. Following her victory, announced by the NBA Electoral Committee Chairman Chief Aham Ejelam, SAN, Badejo-Okusanya expressed profound gratitude to the association's members. She described her win as a collective triumph, built on a shared vision for "A Bolder Bar That Works for Everyone." Her campaign provided extensive engagement with lawyers across Nigeria's 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, allowing her to understand and incorporate their concerns and aspirations into her leadership agenda. "I listened to your hopes, your concerns, your aspirations, and your ideas. Those conversations shaped this campaign, and they will continue to guide my leadership," she stated. Badejo-Okusanya called for an end to post-election divisions, emphasizing the NBA's common purpose: advancing the legal profession and defending justice and the rule of law. She also extended congratulations to her fellow contestants, acknowledging their contribution to a credible electoral process and expressing a willingness to collaborate. The President-elect thanked her campaign team, supporters, mentors, and family, particularly her husband, for their unwavering support. Looking ahead, Badejo-Okusanya outlined her priorities, promising to govern with "integrity, courage, humility, fairness, and accountability." A key focus will be enhancing the welfare of lawyers, aiming to create an association where every member can "earn better, live better, and practise better."
