Former Malaysian PM Ismail Sabri to Undergo Pacemaker Procedure

Former Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob is set to undergo a pacemaker implantation procedure at the National Heart Institute (IJN) on Friday. The surgery is scheduled to occur after the Jumaat prayers.

Ismail Sabri's lawyer, Datuk Amer Hamzah Arshad, confirmed the procedure, noting that his client's health is the primary concern. While there was an initial consideration of reading charges at the IJN, the lawyer explained that this was deemed impractical due to Ismail Sabri's current health condition.

"He certainly wants to clear his name, but at the same time, the main thing on his mind right now is his health," Amer Hamzah told reporters after visiting the former Prime Minister at IJN. He added that the team hopes for prayers from the public for Ismail Sabri's well-being.

Amer Hamzah stated that they are ready to attend court to face any charges once Ismail Sabri's condition stabilizes after the pacemaker procedure. He noted that the duration of the procedure and subsequent monitoring would depend on the doctors' assessments but is expected to take a few days. The legal team will continue to monitor his health closely.

Once everything is done and his condition is stable, we are more than ready to appear in court to answer the charges against him.
