Bala Mohammed picks APM senatorial form

Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has made a significant political move, officially picking up his nomination form to contest the Bauchi South Senatorial District seat under the banner of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) for the 2027 elections. This development follows his recent defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), a move he attributes to the prevailing undemocratic practices and political intimidation within his former party.

I attended the National Executive Committee meeting of the Allied Peoples Movement, which was presided over by the party’s National Chairman, Yusuf Mamman Dantalle, alongside key stakeholders and members of the party leadership.

Governor Mohammed articulated that his decision to join the APM was a result of extensive consultations with political associates, stakeholders, and supporters nationwide. He found the APM to be the most suitable platform, aligning with his core political philosophy centered on good governance, internal democracy, justice, inclusiveness, and respect for the rule of law. This alignment, he believes, will enable him to contribute meaningfully to strengthening Nigeria's democratic culture.

Our decision to join the party was driven by conviction and the desire to contribute meaningfully to building a stronger democratic culture in Nigeria.

The governor further highlighted that his move has been mirrored by several political office holders and stakeholders who previously served under the PDP in Bauchi State. This includes members of the National Assembly, the Bauchi State House of Assembly, local government chairmen, commissioners, ward executives, party officials, and grassroots supporters, all of whom have now aligned with the APM. Governor Mohammed has pledged his full commitment to supporting the party's growth with his resources, experience, and political influence.

During the meeting, I officially picked up my nomination form to contest the Senate seat representing Bauchi South Senatorial District under the platform of the APM ahead of the forthcoming elections.
