Bali Governor Wayan Koster is set to gather all regents, mayors, and heads of education agencies across Bali to standardize the "Gasing Method" for numeracy education. This consolidation effort is designed to expedite the improvement of human resource quality uniformly throughout the island.

Koster, who has a background as a researcher and a passion for mathematics, expressed his amazement at the ability of Bali's elementary school students to solve complex calculations quickly using this method. He emphasized that numerical ability is a crucial foundation for a child's future, stating, "A person who is good at calculating, good at math, they will be good at everything, good in culture, good in business, because they are used to working with calculations and data."

He believes that the inherent qualities of the Balinese people, combined with this educational innovation, will effectively boost the children's competence in the current era. Professor Yohanes Surya, the originator of the Gasing Method, explained that the program has already shown tangible changes during its trial in Bangli Regency. Currently, 2,400 teachers are undergoing training until September, with the goal of implementing the method for 36,000 students in Bangli by November 2026. "So that no student is unable to count in Bangli, not just in Bangli, but throughout Bali, this has an extraordinary impact," Surya stated. He aims to have 400,000 elementary and junior high school students across Bali proficient in calculation within the next 6-7 months.

Technically, the method is integrated with a digital platform called Secret Octagon, which facilitates and accelerates learning evaluation. This game-based approach allows student ability data to be directly integrated with Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology, enabling daily progress monitoring and swift identification of individual learning weaknesses for intervention by teachers and local officials.
