Bandits Attack: Gov Lawal visits Bungudu, reaffirms commitment to combating crime

Governor Dauda Lawal visited Bungudu Local Government Area in Zamfara State on Thursday to offer condolences to families affected by recent bandit attacks. He reaffirmed his administration's firm stance against negotiating with criminals.

I am here to express my sympathy and offer condolences to the families, the Emir, and the people of Bungudu following last week’s bandit attacks.

During his visit, Governor Lawal met with the Emir of Bungudu, Alhaji Hassan Attahiru, to discuss ongoing security efforts. He expressed sympathy for the victims and their families, acknowledging the attacks as a test from God. "We will continue to provide all necessary assistance to those injured and will do everything possible to secure the safe return of all kidnapped victims," Lawal stated.

This is a test from Almighty Allah, and we will overcome it. The state government is dedicating resources and efforts to end the threat of banditry.

The Emir of Bungudu commended the governor's commitment to ending insecurity in the state. "As a member of the state’s security council, I am aware of the governor’s efforts. I am confident that we will overcome the challenge of banditry," he said, appreciating the governor's visit.

I encourage everyone to remain patient, as this sensitive issue requires both perseverance and steadfast prayers.

The governor also visited the families of the late Alhaji Bello Umar Bungudu and other victims. This visit follows a report that Bello Abdullahi, the elder brother of the abducted chairman of Bungudu Local Government, died from gunshot wounds sustained during a bandit raid on July 25, which also resulted in the abduction of the chairman and two others.
