Nigeria Police Chief Deploys Commissioners to Commands, Strategic Formations

Nigeria's Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has authorized a significant reshuffling of senior officers, deploying Commissioners of Police to State Commands and strategic formations across the country. This move follows the approval of his recommendations by the Police Service Commission, signaling a push to invigorate the Nigeria Police Force.

The primary objective behind these deployments is to bolster operational effectiveness and leadership across all levels of the police force. Officials stated the redeployments are intended to consolidate the ongoing reform and repositioning efforts within the NPF, aiming for a more efficient and responsive security apparatus.

Key appointments include Commissioners for Abia, Plateau, Bayelsa, Cross River, Anambra, Edo, Jigawa, and Delta states. Beyond state commands, the deployments also extend to crucial national units such as the Force Intelligence Department, INTERPOL, the Department of Finance and Administration, and the Counter Terrorism Unit. This broad redistribution aims to inject fresh leadership and expertise into critical areas of policing.

Inspector-General Disu urged the newly appointed Commissioners to leverage their extensive experience in their new roles. The charge emphasizes strengthening intelligence gathering and applying their expertise to enhance the overall performance and integrity of the Nigeria Police Force.
