Barcelona thrash Tenerife, Real Madrid win derby and Alavés enjoy dream return

Barcelona began the Liga F Moeve season exactly as the defending champions might have wanted, beating Costa Adeje Tenerife 5-0 in their opening match.

Caroline Graham Hansen supplied two assists, while defender Renee van Asten scored her first goal for Barcelona. The result offered an immediate statement from a side that has dominated the league since 2019-20.

Real Madrid’s main challenge came in a heated derby against Atlético Madrid. Felicia Schröder, signed for a record €1.5 million fee in women’s football, scored twice in the first half and drove Madrid’s early advantage. Her display was later marred by an unsporting incident involving Rosa Otermín, which brought a red card.

All five goals came before halftime, including Sandie Toletti’s Olympic goal for Real Madrid. Atlético’s Gio Garbelini was also dismissed for violent conduct after the break, reducing the team’s chance of finding an equalizer in the 3-2 defeat.

Alavés celebrated its return to the top division after three years with a 2-0 win over Valencia at Mendizorrotza. Brima scored after an individual run in the first half, and Ainhoa Guallar added a chipped finish in the 68th minute. Athletic Club also came from behind to beat Badalona Women 3-1.
