Bersatu not bound to cooperate with only one party, says VP

Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) is not confined to cooperating solely with one political party, despite its current membership in the Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition. The party's Vice President, Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu, indicated that Bersatu is open to forging new alliances with any political entity, provided such cooperation allows the party to continue serving the public effectively.

His remarks come after two assemblymen, Datuk Jasri Jamaluddin (Kuala Sentul) and Mohd Yazid Mohd Yunus (Lepar), declared their support for Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail, who is from a rival party.

When questioned about whether this support conflicted with Bersatu's position within PN, Azumu stated that it was not an internal party matter. He clarified that Bersatu does not view expressing support for other parties as a transgression. "Bersatu does not interfere with the rights or actions or any decisions made by other parties," he said.

Azumu further commented on the political landscape, noting that other parties seem interested in Bersatu's internal affairs. "We are not like other parties that want to investigate our party's constitution, to see what is happening with us. We don't do the work of minding other people's business," he stated. He added that if other parties, like PAS, wish to follow Bersatu's approach, it could be beneficial if it serves the people. Azumu also expressed openness to discussions with UMNO or any other party, emphasizing that Bersatu's primary goal remains serving the people.
