Melaka Polls: Bersatu Admits Need for Coalition

Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) has acknowledged the critical need to form political alliances to strengthen its position, especially in the upcoming Melaka state elections.

Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu, the party's Vice President, stated that while the party generally recognizes the importance of coalitions, Bersatu's current standing in Melaka necessitates such partnerships. "Generally, we need to have a coalition. Without a coalition, it is indeed difficult for us to move alone," he told Utusan Malaysia. He elaborated that the party's individual strength in various divisions within Melaka is not sufficient for them to compete independently.

When questioned about potential collaboration, particularly whether Bersatu would align with Perikatan Nasional (PN) or other parties, Ahmad Faizal remained non-committal regarding specific partners. This comes after PN appeared to be less aligned with Bersatu during the Johor and Negeri Sembilan state elections. He expressed a sentiment that PN seemed to be distancing itself, stating, "It feels like PN is increasingly forgetting us. We are good people, we do not forget people."

Regarding the use of the 'bunga raya' (hibiscus) logo in future elections, Ahmad Faizal indicated that no decision has been made by the party leadership yet. The party is currently assessing its strength across all constituencies. He mentioned that he has personally conducted audits and reviews in all divisions throughout Melaka. A decision on the logo will be made after these evaluations are complete. The party is also considering its options for the upcoming polls, with the possibility of forming new alliances or strengthening existing ones.
