Bersatu's PN membership not revoked, says Secretary-General

Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) Secretary-General Mohamed Azmin Ali has refuted claims that the party's membership in the Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition has been automatically revoked. He stated that such a notion contradicts the coalition's constitution.

Azmin Ali clarified that no clause within the PN Constitution provides for the automatic termination of a member party's status. According to Article 7A of the constitution, a party's membership can only be finalized by the Supreme Council. He noted that the Supreme Council has not convened to make such a determination, thus affirming Bersatu's legitimate standing as a PN member.

He further criticized the PAS President, stating that the president lacks the authority to unilaterally decide Bersatu's position within PN and possesses insufficient knowledge of the coalition's constitution. Azmin Ali also pointed out that the actions of the PN Chairman and Secretary-General in preventing Bersatu representatives from attending a Supreme Council meeting on July 16 were contrary to the PN Constitution. That meeting had made decisions regarding seat distribution and cooperation with Barisan Nasional in the recent Negeri Sembilan state election.

Consequently, Bersatu plans to submit a formal complaint to the Registrar of Societies Malaysia (RoS). Azmin Ali accused the PN leadership, dominated by PAS, of disregarding the PN Constitution, abandoning good governance principles, and acting arbitrarily and undemocratically. Bersatu maintains its commitment to operating within legal frameworks and the Federal Constitution, advocating for justice and moderation to ensure Malaysia's dignified and prosperous future for all its citizens.
