Do Not Misuse Tenders for Personal Gain, Ruler Tells Negeri Sembilan Excos

The Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Ibni Almarhum Tuanku Munawir, has issued a stern warning to the state's executive councilors (Exco), forbidding them from abusing their authority or positions for personal benefit, or that of their families and acquaintances, particularly concerning government tenders and projects.

Every Exco must not at all abuse the power granted for personal, family, or friends' interests, especially in making decisions related to the awarding of government tenders or projects.

During the swearing-in ceremony for the new Exco members, Tuanku Muhriz emphasized that the public places high hopes on the state government. He stressed that all policies and plans must be executed efficiently, transparently, and effectively. "Every Exco must not at all abuse the power granted for personal, family, or friends' interests, especially in making decisions related to the awarding of government tenders or projects," he stated.

He reminded the new councilors that the nation requires leaders with high principles, or "persons of honor." He warned that abusing power and position leads to injustice and weakens the implementation of policies designed for the people's welfare. The Ruler also noted that a government's success is measured not only by its planning but also by its ability to deliver tangible results that benefit the populace.

Tuanku Muhriz urged the new state government to build upon the successes of the previous administration, particularly in attracting quality investments, boosting state revenue, and generating more economic and employment opportunities. He highlighted Negeri Sembilan's record of high investment and revenue as achievements to be defended and enhanced for the benefit of all residents. He also stressed the need for continuous identification and improvement of existing weaknesses to ensure the state administration remains excellent, possesses integrity, and is effective.
