Blow to Lietkabelis: Last Season's Leader Will Not Return to Panevėžys

Basketball club Lietkabelis Panevėžys has suffered a significant blow with the departure of their star player, Kristian Kullamäe. The Estonian guard, who was a key figure for the team last season, will not be returning to the Lithuanian club.

Kullamäe has officially signed with U-BT Cluj-Napoca, a Romanian team that competes in the European Cup. This move marks a new chapter for the 24-year-old guard, who had a standout season with Lietkabelis. In the previous European Cup campaign, he averaged 11.9 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game. His performance in the Lithuanian LKL league was even more impressive, with averages of 16 points, 2.8 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and an efficiency rating of 13.1.

Kullamäe spent the 2022-2023 season with Lietkabelis before transferring to a Spanish club. His departure leaves a considerable gap in the Lietkabelis roster. The team has managed to retain only two players from the previous season's squad: Gabrielius Maldūnas and Nojus Radžius. This indicates a significant rebuilding phase for the Panevėžys-based team as they prepare for the upcoming challenges.
