Bogor to Announce Daily Air Quality After Anak Krakatau Ash Reaches City

Bogor is preparing daily air-quality updates after ash from Mount Anak Krakatau reached the West Java city. Deputy Mayor Jenal Mutaqin said the latest air-quality index stood at 83, placing conditions in the moderate category.

The city government expects to receive monitoring equipment from Indonesia’s Ministry of Environment on September 7 and plans to take measurements that afternoon.

Officials urged residents to limit outdoor activities, including exercise. The restriction applies to students and the wider public as a precaution against exposure to volcanic ash. The city has also mandated remote learning for students on September 7 and 8.
