Bolivia shines at Youth Pan American Karate Championship with one gold, two silvers, two bronzes

Bolivia has made a remarkable start at the 35th Youth Pan American Karate Championship held in Cartago, Costa Rica, capturing a total of five medals within the initial stages of the competition. The strong performance includes one gold, two silver, and two bronze medals, positioning the Bolivian delegation sixth in the overall standings.

The highlight of the tournament so far for Bolivia is the gold medal secured by Ariadne Plata in the U12 Female Kumite -47 kilograms division. In a testament to the team's strength in this category, fellow Bolivian Sofía Herrera also reached the final, earning the silver medal. This impressive one-two finish in the same event underscores the talent within Bolivia's junior karate program.

Emiliano Arnez has also proven to be a multi-talented competitor, achieving success in two different disciplines. He clinched a silver medal in the U14 Male Kumite -45 kg category and added a bronze medal in the U14 Kata event. The fifth medal for Bolivia came from Gabriel Vargas, who secured a bronze in the U12 Kumite -45 kg competition.

The championship features approximately 1,000 athletes from 25 countries competing in Kata (forms) and Kumite (combat). Bolivia's delegation consists of 27 athletes and three coaches. The team's early success demonstrates their dedication and skill on the international stage, setting a positive tone for the remainder of the tournament.
