Bomadi community assures Igbo traders of security amid burglary concerns

Leaders of the Bomadi Urban Community in Delta State, Nigeria, have pledged renewed efforts to combat burglaries and thefts plaguing the Bomadi-Overside business district. The assurance comes specifically for traders and residents, with particular attention to members of the Igbo business community, who have reportedly been targeted in repeated break-ins.

Mr. Famous Ebiare, the community chairman, stated that the leadership would bring the matter before the Bomadi Local Government Security Council. He also proposed establishing vigilante posts to bolster security and deter criminal activities. Ebiare emphasized the strategic importance of Bomadi-Overside as a commercial hub serving numerous riverine communities, underscoring the necessity of protecting lives, businesses, and property.

He reiterated his intention to present the security challenges at the upcoming Local Government Security Council meeting and advocate for the creation of community vigilante posts.

In addition to addressing security concerns, Ebiare took the opportunity to clarify the community's official designation as Bomadi-Overside, disputing previous reports that referred to it as "Esenaebe." He also affirmed that Mr. Wareka-emi Osuobeni is the legitimate chairman of Bomadi-Overside, asserting that no parallel leadership exists. Ebiare stressed the importance of accurate identification to avoid misinformation as the community works to resolve its security issues.
