Borno Commissioner Retracts ‘Finger-Breaking’ Comment and Apologizes to Residents

A Borno commissioner has retracted a “finger-breaking” comment and apologized to residents of the Nigerian state.

In his statement, the commissioner said the remark was never intended to harm residents or violate their fundamental rights. He specifically referred to the rights to freedom of choice and association protected under Nigeria’s amended federal Constitution.
