Boulevard linking National Route 51 to expressway to pay about 3 billion dong per hectare for farmland

Farmland acquired for Dong Nai’s Nguyen Huu Canh Boulevard project will receive average compensation of about 3 billion dong per hectare under a plan approved by the city government.

The 60-metre-wide boulevard will begin at National Route 51 in Long Hung Ward, run along the Dong Nai River and connect with the Ho Chi Minh City-Long Thanh-Dau Giay Expressway in An Phuoc Commune. The route will stretch about 15.5 kilometres and contain six to eight lanes. Construction began on June 30, 2026.

Besides land payments, eligible households may receive support to stabilize their lives, change occupations and find work. Authorities will also consider payments for handing over land on time. The city has made the compensation, support and resettlement plan public for affected households.

Dong Nai identifies the boulevard as a major infrastructure axis for developing an urban landscape along the Dong Nai River. The project is also tied to plans to reorganize land along the route and use it more effectively. City officials said the surrounding areas would be reshaped to create a modern urban space with service, financial and commercial functions.

The approach combines road construction with land reorganization. Authorities say it aims to complete the transport network, tighten control over urban planning and architecture, and use land values to regenerate investment capital.

Officials have also raised concerns about land speculation. Nguyen Thi Nhu Y, secretary of the Long Hung Ward Party Committee, said people from outside the area had arrived to buy land, broker deals and inflate prices after planning information was released. She said the activity had affected residents’ lives, complicated land management and caused disorder in some areas.

Dong Nai authorities have instructed agencies carrying out the land acquisition to carefully review each plot’s origin, management and use, as well as the circumstances of each affected case.
