Brazil's 2026 presidential election campaign kicks off its debate season this Sunday, August 23, with the first major forum organized by Grupo Bandeirantes and Estadão. The event, held in partnership with TV Cultura, Gazeta, and Jovem Pan, aims to provide a platform for candidates to present their platforms and engage with key issues.

Confirmed participants include Augusto Cury (Avante), Renan Santos (Missão), and Ronaldo Caiado (PSD). However, Romeu Zema (Novo) announced his withdrawal from the debate on Sunday morning. The absence of the two leading candidates in opinion polls, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) and Senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ), is notable.
