BYD Expands Education Support Program to 45 Indonesian Cities

PT BYD Motor Indonesia is broadening its social program, "Small Steps for Tomorrow," to support education across 45 cities in Indonesia. The initiative, run in partnership with the philanthropy platform BenihBaik, aims to provide essential school supplies and improve educational access for children nationwide.

Eagle Zhao, President Director of PT BYD Motor Indonesia, stated that the program's expansion is a key part of the company's commitment to sustainability, which extends beyond technological development to community contribution, particularly for the youth. "Every BYD vehicle sold contributes to expanding the reach of this program," Zhao said. Previously, the program distributed 1,200 pairs of shoes and school bags to students in 12 schools across various regions, starting with an event at SDN 03 Pondok Petir in Depok.

Globally, BYD has allocated 3 billion yuan for education in 2024, supporting educational and technological development through collaborations with universities and science museums in China. In Indonesia, the company has also engaged in other social activities, including flood relief, mangrove planting with electric vehicle communities, and new energy vehicle technology education at higher learning institutions.

Luther Panjaitan, Head of Public and Government Relations at PT BYD Motor Indonesia, emphasized the company's goal to create broader benefits through its social and educational programs, believing that technological innovation should align with contributions to society and the environment. BYD also reported significant growth in new energy vehicle sales, with over 16.5 million sold globally and more than 91,000 units delivered in Indonesia by May 2026.
