Callecultura invites families to a different kind of afternoon in Asunción

Juan de Salazar street in Asunción has become the setting for the 12th edition of Callecultura, an open-air event inviting children, young people and adults to spend the afternoon together. Admission is free, and activities continue until 8 p.m.

The organizers present the street as a shared public space for culture, recreation and safe use by people of all ages. Visitors can find traditional games such as jump rope, food options and artistic performances across two stages and several stands.

Workshops offer origami, macramé, embroidery and screen printing. A tango show begins at 5 p.m., followed by a breaking battle at 6:30 p.m. The lineup includes Arrozkesu, Aipona, Nando and Norma Ortega, Paty Latorre and Orbitales on one stage, with Sebastián Wherle, a hip-hop show, Piruvá, Lou Mei and Fundación Gabriela Duarte on the other.

The event is organized by El Granel, the Instituto Cultural Paraguayo Alemán, Anglo English, Stael Ruffinelli de Ortiz English and Colegio del Sol. The European Union supports the project, along with Chiki Plan and producer Pirî Porã. El Granel will also host a DJ set by Dulce Candy from 6 p.m.
