Cameroon: 45 Suspected Criminals Arrested, 20 Daggers Seized in Tongo Gandima

Cameroonian security forces have apprehended 45 individuals suspected of criminal activities in Tongo Gandima, a locality within the Ngoura commune in the East region. The arrests were made during "Operation Tentacles," carried out by elements of the Bertoua Gendarmerie Company on August 15, 2026.

The operation targeted suspected criminals operating in the area, with the goal of reducing crime and restoring peace for residents of Ngoura and its environs. The security forces conducted a sweep of various sectors within Tongo Gandima.

In addition to the arrests, the operation yielded a significant seizure of illicit items. According to the national gendarmerie, authorities confiscated a substantial quantity of "Indian hemp" (cannabis), prohibited medicines including Tramadol, two hunting weapons, 20 daggers, and six motorcycles of unknown origin. These seizures are intended to disrupt criminal operations and remove dangerous items from circulation.
