Cameroon leads selection in WAFCON 2026 Best XI with four players

The standout performers of the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) have been recognized with the unveiling of the tournament's official Best XI. The selection highlights the exceptional talent displayed throughout the competition, with Cameroon and Malawi featuring most prominently.

Cameroon goalkeeper Michaely Bihina earned a spot between the posts. The defensive unit includes Algeria's Ines Belloumou, Morocco's Nohaila Benzina, and Hanane Aït El Haj, complemented by Cameroon's Myriam Nyadjou. The midfield is anchored by Cameroon's Monique Ngock and Malawi's Temwa Chawinga, with Algeria's Marine Dafeur also making the cut.

The attacking prowess is represented by Malawi's Tabitha Chawinga, Cameroon's Marie Ngah, and Zambia's Barbra Banda. Following her team's impressive campaign, Cameroon's Valentine Nguele was appointed as the head coach of the Best XI, acknowledging her leadership and tactical acumen.
