Cameroon: MRC Denounces Authorities' Complicity in Recurring Domestic Femicides

The Movement for the Renaissance of Cameroon (MRC) has expressed outrage over what it calls the "culpable passivity" of authorities in addressing the escalating domestic femicides across the nation. The party, led by Maurice Kamto, stated that the phenomenon claims an average of one life per day in Cameroon.

The recent poisoning of a mother by her husband has pushed the MRC to break its silence. The party is demanding that "every life be counted, every name known, and every perpetrator prosecuted." This call stems from the perceived ineffectiveness of current measures against domestic violence and femicide.

The MRC pointed to the near-universal indifference surrounding these cases and criticized the state's response to the extreme violence faced by women in Cameroon. The party highlighted the government's perceived weakness in confronting this crisis, suggesting a failure to adequately protect citizens from the most severe forms of domestic abuse.
