Canadian Football League to launch season earlier and expand playoffs starting in 2027

The Canadian Football League (CFL) is set to usher in a new era with significant changes to its season structure and playoff format, beginning in 2027. In a move designed to enhance fan engagement and create more compelling narratives throughout the season, the league announced plans to shift its regular season kickoff to the Victoria Day holiday long weekend in May. This earlier start aims to capture greater attention and build momentum earlier in the year, moving away from the traditional June launch.
