Candidates’ List: INEC extends deadline to July 14

Nigeria's Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has granted political parties an extension for submitting their lists of candidates for the 2027 Presidential and National Assembly Elections. The submission deadline has been moved from Saturday, July 11, 2026, to midnight on Tuesday, July 14, 2026.

This decision comes after the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) appealed to INEC on behalf of political parties that faced challenges uploading the names and personal details of their candidates within the original timeframe. The extension aims to accommodate these parties and ensure a more inclusive electoral process.

INEC stated that this move underscores its commitment to inclusivity and adherence to the law. The commission urged political parties to utilize this additional time effectively to ensure all necessary candidate information is uploaded before the new deadline expires.
