Car hits crowd at Germany's Pride parade; one dead, 15 injured

At least one person died and approximately 15 others were injured, some seriously, after a vehicle drove into a crowd at Berlin's Pride parade on Saturday night. Police confirmed the incident occurred in the Tiergarten park, adjacent to the parade's route.

Authorities responded swiftly, with police urging attendees to leave the event venue immediately. A spokesperson indicated that a search for suspects was underway. In a video shared on the Berlin police's X account, an officer stated, "We are conducting an intensive search for possible suspects."

Eyewitnesses reported that a suspect was detained following the incident. The parade, known in Germany as Christopher Street Day, had drawn hundreds of thousands of people to the capital for one of Europe's largest LGBTQ+ celebrations.

The event, which was taking place near the Brandenburg Gate, was canceled around 10:15 p.m. A scheduled band performance was interrupted, and attendees were advised to leave the area and avoid the Tiergarten park.
