Car plunges into water channel in Turkey; one dead, three injured

A tragic traffic accident in Turkey's Bitlis province has claimed one life and left three others injured after a car veered off the road and into a water channel. The incident took place on the D300 highway near the Şeyh Mahmut Cemetery in the Günkırı town, heading towards Muş.

The vehicle, whose license plate has not yet been identified, reportedly went out of control when the driver lost steering. It subsequently plunged into a roadside water channel. Emergency services, including ambulances and gendarmerie teams, were dispatched to the scene following the incident.

Paramedics entered the water channel to extract the injured individuals from the vehicle. After receiving initial treatment at the scene, the wounded were transported by ambulance to Güroymak State Hospital. Despite the efforts of medical staff, one of the severely injured passengers, identified as Meryem İ., succumbed to her injuries.

The condition of the other three injured individuals is currently being monitored as they continue to receive treatment. Security forces have initiated an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident.
