Carapaz wins on Alpe d'Huez; Del Toro confirms third place overall

Ecuadorian cyclist Richard Carapaz claimed his second stage win of this Tour de France, triumphing on the iconic Alpe d'Huez. This victory marks his third career stage win in the prestigious race.

The EF Education-EasyPost rider attacked on a long breakaway, ultimately crossing the finish line solo. He finished ahead of Remco Evenepoel and Sepp Kuss, the latter of whom experienced two crashes in the final ten kilometers while leading the stage.

In the general classification, Slovenian Tadej Pogacar maintained his lead, though he lost a few seconds to Evenepoel. Mexican rider Isaac del Toro confirmed his third-place standing on the podium in Paris, holding a significant lead over his closest rivals. Del Toro's strong performance was aided by support from Pogacar on a crucial climb.

Carapaz also secured the mountains classification jersey for the second time in his career on the same day he won the stage. The race concludes with a symbolic final stage on Sunday.
