Carlos Pineda's 'Memory of Flowers' Collection Blooms with Maximalist Elegance at Intermoda

Mexican fashion celebrated creativity at the latest edition of Intermoda, a fashion and business fair held in Expo Guadalajara. The event's main stage, Fashion Space, hosted established and emerging designers showcasing their collections. Among them was Carlos Pineda, known for his maximalist aesthetic, who presented his "La memoria de las flores" (The Memory of Flowers) collection for the Autumn-Winter 2026/2027 season.

Pineda, who debuted at Intermoda a decade ago, drew inspiration from the melancholic beauty of wilting flowers. This collection marks an evolution in Pineda's design philosophy. While maintaining his signature maximalism and voluminous silhouettes, he incorporated stiffer materials, resulting in a more architectural and less fluid construction than his previous romantic designs. The collection comprises 53 looks, featuring a rich palette of colors like royal blue, yellow, orange, red, and purple, alongside black, white, and gold. Predominant fabrics include brocades, silks, and organza, with floral, polka dot, and snake prints appearing in moderation.

The silhouettes range from his characteristic maxi dresses to more structured, voluminous designs. Many pieces feature long, detailed sleeves, asymmetrical necklines, and high collars. Pineda's mastery of color blocking is evident, creating unique and harmonious combinations that are visually appealing without being overwhelming.

Before, I used materials with more fluidity or lightness, very romantic, creating these voluminous silhouettes, but with a lot of movement and much romanticism. Now, yes, we are presenting something maximalist and with large silhouettes, but with materials with more rigidity; the pattern making is a bit more architectural.
