Chain Collision Near Postojna Halts Traffic, Multiple Injured; Military Helicopter Responds

A serious chain-reaction collision on the coastal highway near Postojna has brought traffic to a standstill and resulted in multiple injuries, some severe. Emergency services, including teams from Postojna, Cerknica, Sežana, and Logatec, responded swiftly to aid the injured. A Slovenian Army helicopter was deployed to transport one critical patient to the University Clinical Centre in Ljubljana, highlighting the severity of the incident. The accident, which involved three vehicles with Slovenian license plates, occurred near the Studenec rest area. The highway section between Razdrto and Studenec was closed for several hours, causing extensive queues on the A1 highway and surrounding roads towards Ljubljana. Firefighters from Postojna and Razdrto also assisted at the scene, securing the area, aiding medical teams, and managing fluid spills. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers on our roads, especially as the Zavod Reševalni pas organization pointed out the irresponsible behavior of some drivers, with children seen exiting vehicles with toys amidst the rescue operation. This highlights a concerning lack of awareness and adherence to safety protocols during emergencies.
