Malawi's "Scorchers" have booked their spot in the Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) final, continuing their remarkable debut tournament with a 3-1 win over Algeria in Rabat. The Chawinga sisters, Tabitha and Temwa, were once again the stars, collectively scoring three goals to secure the victory.

Despite being the lowest-ranked team in the competition, Malawi has defied expectations throughout the tournament. Their journey to the final includes impressive wins against established footballing nations like Nigeria and Ghana. This latest triumph over Algeria further solidifies their status as a rising force in African women's football.

The match itself was a dramatic affair, marked by two first-half red cards issued after VAR interventions. Algeria's Morgane Belkhiter was sent off for denying Tabitha Chawinga a clear goal-scoring opportunity. Shortly after, Tabitha opened the scoring with an acrobatic overhead kick in the 33rd minute. Temwa Chawinga extended the lead in first-half added time, but the numerical advantage for Malawi was short-lived as Rose Kadzere received a red card before the break.

In the second half, Algeria pulled one back through Ikram Adjabi, briefly raising hopes of a comeback. However, Tabitha Chawinga's second goal of the match sealed the win for Malawi, extinguishing any chance of an Algerian resurgence.
