PSG retain UEFA Super Cup with 2-1 win over Aston Villa

Paris Saint-Germain successfully defended their UEFA Super Cup title, securing a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Aston Villa on Wednesday. Goals from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Desire Doue proved decisive for the French champions, who added another trophy to their collection.

PSG took the lead in the 20th minute when Kvaratskhelia showcased his skill, dancing past defenders before unleashing an unstoppable shot into the net. Aston Villa, however, responded just before halftime. Brian Madjo, making his debut for the club, equalized with a volley into the roof of the net, becoming the youngest-ever scorer in the UEFA Super Cup at just 17 years old.

Desire Doue restored PSG's advantage in the 61st minute with a curling shot into the far corner, a goal that was initially flagged offside but ultimately awarded after a VAR review. Despite periods of possession and chances, Aston Villa could not find a second equalizer.

PSG manager Luis Enrique, who has now won 13 trophies since joining the club, fielded a strong side despite many players recently returning from the World Cup. For Aston Villa, manager Unai Emery extended his record of losing all four of his UEFA Super Cup appearances. PSG's victory places them in an elite group alongside AC Milan and Real Madrid as teams that have successfully retained the trophy.
