Chelsea continues its squad strengthening for the upcoming season by confirming the acquisition of Argentine talent Valentin Barco from Ligue 1 side Strasbourg. The midfielder has penned a long-term contract with The Blues, extending his stay until 2033. The club has not disclosed the transfer fee for the 22-year-old, who is regarded as one of South America's most exciting prospects.

Barco is set to join manager Xabi Alonso and his new teammates immediately for the remainder of the pre-season training camp, preparing for the 2026/27 campaign. The Argentine midfielder arrives at Stamford Bridge after a standout performance with Strasbourg last season, where he scored three goals and provided 11 assists in 58 appearances across all competitions. His consistent form also earned him a place in the Argentine national squad, accumulating five international caps and scoring two goals.

Barco was also part of the Argentina squad that finished as runners-up in the World Cup last month, losing 0-1 to Spain in the final. His professional career began with Argentine giants Boca Juniors before he moved to Brighton & Hove Albion in 2024, followed by a loan spell at Strasbourg, which has now become a permanent transfer. Barco's addition bolsters Chelsea's list of new signings, including Morgan Rogers, Maxence Lacroix, Marco Palestra, and Danny Welbeck, as the club aims for a significant improvement after finishing 10th in the Premier League last season.
