Chief of Staff Adorni Received Payments from Journalist's Company Before Taking Office

Revelations have emerged concerning financial transactions between Manuel Adorni, the current Chief of Staff, and Marcelo Grandio, a journalist and owner of the production company Imhouse. Records indicate that Adorni received approximately 1.6 million pesos from Imhouse during his final year outside of government service, spanning from late 2022 through 2023. These payments, which were reportedly made to Adorni prior to his assumption of public office, ceased only upon his appointment as a government official in December 2023.

The transfers reinforce the relationship between the two journalists and, more specifically, Adorni's link with Grandio's production company, which celebrated at least three contracts with state television during the libertarian government.

The timing and nature of these transfers have drawn scrutiny, particularly as Imhouse has subsequently entered into at least three contracts with the state during the current administration. This raises questions about potential conflicts of interest and the ethical implications of such financial dealings between individuals who later hold positions of power and companies that engage with the government.

Further complicating the picture, Grandio's production company is also alleged to have covered the costs of private flights for Adorni and his family during a trip to Punta del Este earlier this year. The pilot involved in these flights has reportedly confirmed these payments in judicial testimony, adding a layer of corroboration to the claims. The initial investigation into Adorni's finances reportedly began following questions surrounding the funding of an official trip to New York.

Grandio's production company was also the one that paid for part of the private flights in which Adorni and his family went for a few days to Punta del Este, in February of this year.
