CHP's Başarır Slams Government on Housing Lotteries, Exam Integrity: "Is This Moral Superiority?"

Speaking on the floor of the Grand National Assembly, CHP Group Deputy Chairman Ali Mahir Başarır launched a scathing critique of the ruling party's performance, questioning the very definition of "moral superiority" in politics. Başarır's address touched upon a wide array of pressing national issues, including the controversial TOKİ housing lotteries, the integrity of national examinations like the LGS and Police College entrance tests, soaring unemployment, inadequate minimum wage and emekli (pensioner) incomes, and the state of press freedom. He particularly zeroed in on the TOKİ housing draw, highlighting what he termed a "lottery scandal" and expressing disbelief at the official explanation of "technical error." Başarır pointed out that after 955,067 applications, the draw seemingly stopped, leaving 117,593 individuals without a chance, a statistical impossibility according to his calculations. He lamented the lack of justice in the country, describing the situation as "shameful." The CHP politician also drew attention to allegations of favoritism in the distribution of TOKİ housing in Adıyaman, suggesting that units were allocated to individuals close to the Menzil sect. This, he argued, alongside alleged cheating in the LGS and Police College exams, erodes public trust and undermines the principles of fairness and meritocracy. Başarır's fiery speech reflects the opposition's deep dissatisfaction with the current administration's handling of critical social and economic matters, framing these issues as fundamental failures that damage the nation's integrity.
