Cibona begins preparations for new season, aiming to defend championship title

The Croatian basketball club Cibona has commenced its preparations for the upcoming season, with the team under head coach Ivan Rudež focusing on physical fitness and team cohesion. As the reigning Croatian champions, Cibona aims to defend its title while competing in multiple leagues.

The initial phase of training will emphasize building physical conditioning and integrating new players into the team's system. Following this, the team will travel to Mali Lošinj for a training camp during the second week of preparations. This camp is designed for intensive training, tactical refinement, and strengthening team bonds before the competitive season begins.

Cibona's schedule includes commitments in the Croatian Premier League, the regional ABA League, and the FIBA Champions League. The club will also play several friendly matches as part of its preseason, with the exact schedule, opponents, venues, and times to be confirmed later. The club's roster for the 2026/27 season includes a mix of returning and new players across various positions.

Sporting director Marin Rozić expressed satisfaction with the team-building process over the summer. "After a long and productive summer, we have started preparations for the new season. We had a very demanding period during which we worked intensively on assembling the team, and looking at what has been done, I can say that I am satisfied," Rozić stated. He highlighted the upcoming medical examinations and fitness assessments before the team heads to Lošinj for further preparation.
