Clubs to gather in Chiriquí for National Taekwondo Championship

The province of Chiriquí is set to become the hub of Panamanian taekwondo as it hosts the National Championship from July 24th to 26th at the La Basita sports center in David.

This significant event is designed to bolster the growth of martial arts within Panama. Organizers emphasize its role in fostering fundamental values such as respect, discipline, perseverance, and integrity in the development of young athletes. The championship will feature delegations from Panama, Panama Oeste, Colón, Chitré, Los Santos, Veraguas, Coclé, and the host province, Chiriquí.

Approximately 36 taekwondo clubs, registered with the Panamanian Taekwondo Federation, will participate. The tournament aims to showcase the nation's top taekwondo practitioners in an environment of fair competition, with the goal of elevating the technical and competitive standards of all participants. It also serves as a crucial platform for discovering and nurturing new talent for future international representation.

Boris Álvarez, president of the Panamanian Taekwondo Federation, highlighted that the championship will provide a detailed evaluation of athletes' performances. This assessment will directly contribute to the selection process for national teams competing in the Olympic cycle and other high-level international events. The federation seeks to promote sporting excellence, foster camaraderie among provinces, and strengthen the entire Panamanian taekwondo community through this event.
