Colapinto sees positives in sprint and qualifying at Canadian Grand Prix

Argentine driver Franco Colapinto described his Saturday at the Canadian Grand Prix as a "good day," highlighting the positive takeaways from both the sprint race and qualifying. Starting tenth for Sunday's Formula One race at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal, Colapinto felt the team's efforts are leading to more consistent results.

"It was a solid Saturday overall, from which we extracted positive aspects from both the sprint and qualifying," Colapinto stated. "I am happy and proud of the work we have done as a team, and I feel it is paying off with more consistent results like this."

In the sprint race, Colapinto finished ninth after starting thirteenth, narrowly missing out on a point. He noted that his pace felt significantly better than the previous day, allowing him to compete more effectively. "We were close to scoring a point in the sprint, which I finished ninth after starting from thirteenth position; and the pace felt much better than the day before, which allowed us to compete with the cars around us," he explained. "I was chasing Arvid (Lindblad), fighting for the last point. But we lost it, which was a bit frustrating, especially when you've been so close to achieving it."

Qualifying saw Colapinto again battling near Lindblad, ultimately securing tenth place. "Then, in qualifying, we were close to Arvid again, and they looked very strong today, so tenth position was probably the maximum we could aspire to," he commented. Looking ahead to the race, Colapinto expressed confidence in achieving a good result if conditions remain stable, though he acknowledged the uncertainty posed by predicted rain. "This puts us in a good position for tomorrow and, with the performance we had in the sprint, I am confident we can achieve a good result if the weather remains constant," he said. "We also know that the forecasts predict rain, which is an unknown for all of us, and we will do our best to react to whatever happens in tomorrow's race."
