Colombia Earthquake: Scale of Destruction Revealed, Thousands of Homes Damaged

The full extent of the devastation caused by a powerful 7.4 magnitude earthquake in Colombia is becoming clear, with thousands of homes affected. Official figures indicate that around 5,000 houses sustained damage, while 387 were completely destroyed. Additionally, 61 buildings collapsed following the seismic event.

The earthquake's impact has been significant on public infrastructure as well. More than 550 educational facilities, 24 health centers, and over 350 community centers were damaged. The World Health Organization (WHO) reported damage to 24 health facilities across six Colombian cities as of the previous night.

The earthquake, which occurred recently, tragically claimed 132 lives. Its tremors were felt not only across Colombia but also in parts of Venezuela, Ecuador, and Panama, highlighting the wide reach of the disaster.
