Colombian Viveros scores twice, claims top scorer title in Brazil League

Colombian striker Kevin Viveros is the new leading scorer in the Brazilian Championship after netting a brace in Athletico Paranaense's 3-2 away win against Botafogo. The 26-year-old from Buenaventura now has 16 goals, one more than Flamengo's Pedro, who drops to second place after the 24th round of matches.

Viveros was the standout player in the match held at Rio de Janeiro's Nilton Santos stadium. His goals, along with one from João Cruz, gave Paranaense a 2-0 lead in the first half. Viveros extended the lead early in the second half before Botafogo mounted a comeback, scoring twice through Uruguayan midfielder Santi Rodríguez.

The victory moved Athletico Paranaense up to third place in the league table with 44 points. They are now 7 points behind leaders Palmeiras (51 points) and 1 point behind Flamengo (45 points). Viveros, who previously played for Venezuelan club Carabobo and Bosnia's Sarajevo, joined Athletico Paranaense last year. He was instrumental in helping the club return to Brazil's top division.

In his two seasons with the Curitiba-based club, Viveros has scored a total of 27 goals in 52 appearances, establishing himself as a key attacking force.
