Como 1907 Beat Napoli 2-1 to Hand Serie A Champions Their First Defeat

Como 1907 silenced Napoli at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium, beating the Serie A champions 2-1 and handing them their first defeat of the season.

Martin Baturina put Como ahead in the 17th minute. Assane Diao’s cut-back found Baturina inside the area, and the midfielder turned before firing past Alex Meret.

Napoli responded in the 30th minute through Rasmus Hojlund, who struck a low left-footed shot from the edge of the penalty area. Como restored its lead four minutes later when Anastasios Douvikas took advantage of a defensive error and scored with a right-footed shot.

Napoli pressed after halftime and thought it had equalized in stoppage time through Stanislav Lobotka. The referee disallowed the goal after judging that David Neres had fouled Alex Valle during the buildup.

The result lifted Como to fourth place provisionally with four points. Napoli sat ninth with three points from two matches. Como goalkeeper Emil Audero Mulyadi did not start, with Cesc Fabregas selecting Jean Butez instead.
