Inter Milan Beat Cagliari 1-0 to Keep Perfect Serie A Start

Hakan Calhanoglu’s ninth-minute strike was enough to give Inter Milan a 1-0 win at Cagliari and preserve the team’s perfect start to the 2026/27 Serie A season.

Calhanoglu received Nicolo Barella’s pass outside the penalty area and placed his shot into the bottom-left corner at the Sardegna Arena. The goal remained the only one of the match, despite Inter creating several opportunities.

Cagliari goalkeeper Elia Caprile repeatedly denied Inter a second goal. He stopped Lautaro Martinez in the 25th minute and parried Federico Dimarco’s volley three minutes later. After the break, Caprile also saved Pio Esposito’s effort, while Esposito later headed wide.

Cagliari grew more adventurous after Inter eased its pressure midway through the second half. Alessandro Romano delivered a corner for Gennaro Borrelli, but Borrelli’s header missed the target. Inter held on through the final whistle.

The victory moved Cristian Chivu’s side to six points from two matches and the provisional top of the standings. Cagliari remained 12th with three points.
