Manchester United Thrash Ipswich 5-2 for First Premier League Win

Bruno Fernandes scored a hat-trick as Manchester United overturned an early deficit to beat Ipswich Town 5-2 at Old Trafford and claim their first Premier League win of the season.

Ipswich took the lead in the 29th minute when Leif Davis finished Fatawu’s cross. United goalkeeper Senne Lammens then denied Davis a second goal before Manchester equalized in the 40th minute. Matheus Cunha won possession after an Ipswich defensive error and supplied Fernandes, who fired past Peter Scherpen.

United moved ahead seven minutes after halftime when Harry Maguire’s low shot deflected off Jacob Greaves and into the Ipswich goal. VAR checked a possible handball by Maguire before allowing the goal to stand. Fernandes then converted a penalty after Cunha went down in the box, making it 3-1.

Fernandes completed his hat-trick in the 68th minute after Bryan Mbeumo’s shot deflected to him. He later turned provider, sending Mbeumo through for a lob from outside the penalty area that made it 5-1 in the 82nd minute. Ipswich scored again in stoppage time through Chuba Akpom, who finished after Julio Enciso capitalized on a Lisandro Martínez mistake.

United rose to 10th place with three points from two matches, according to the official Premier League website. Ipswich also have three points but dropped to 12th. The score remained 5-2 until the final whistle.
