Concepción Students Unable to Use Restrooms for Five Months Due to Collapse Risk

Students at the Concepción Regional Education Center (CREC) in Paraguay have been barred from using their designated restrooms for five months, a situation arising from fears of structural collapse.

The Ministry of Education and Sciences (MEC) mandated the closure of these facilities in March, citing safety concerns based on official reports. The resolution affected not only bathrooms but also classrooms in 104 educational institutions across the Concepción department. At CREC, the primary and secondary cycle students' bathrooms were sealed due to visible cracks in the walls and floors.

This closure impacts around 500 students who attend the school in morning and afternoon shifts. They are now required to travel to restrooms located in other parts of the campus or use facilities designated for staff. The situation persists into the second academic semester, prompting urgent calls from parents for the municipality to fund and execute the necessary repairs to reopen the vital facilities.
