Six dead, 30 injured in bus-camper van collision in Italy

A head-on collision between a bus and a camper van on a state road in Italy's Rieti province on Sunday killed six people and injured 30 others. The accident, which also involved three other vehicles, occurred on state road 79 near the municipality of Colli sul Velino.

The bus was traveling towards Terni, while the camper van was heading in the opposite direction when they crashed. The cause of the accident remains unknown. Emergency services and firefighters were dispatched to the scene to evacuate passengers from the bus and other involved vehicles.

Among the fatalities were the drivers of both the bus and the camper van, along with two passengers from the bus and two occupants of the camper van. At least three of the 30 injured individuals sustained severe injuries. Several air ambulances were deployed to transport the most seriously wounded to hospitals in the Umbria and Lazio regions. Traffic was diverted to facilitate rescue operations, causing significant delays.
