Confidence is the most crucial element for the younger generation to embrace experimenting with kebaya, according to film fashion designer Hagai Pakan. Speaking at a press conference in Jakarta ahead of National Kebaya Day, Pakan stressed that there are no rigid rules to fear when styling the traditional Indonesian garment. He encouraged individuals to be as daring and confident as possible with their choices, emphasizing personal comfort as the foundation for radiating self-assurance.

Pakan explained that kebaya can be paired with various clothing items and accessories, reflecting each wearer's unique character and style. He asserted that color, motif, and model choices should all stem from a place of confidence. The current trend sees kebaya increasingly integrated with modern fashion items, expanding its use beyond formal events to everyday activities, including work.

Beyond aesthetics, Pakan highlighted the importance of selecting suitable fabrics based on the location and activity to maintain comfort throughout the day. For heavier kebaya materials or outdoor activities, he recommended wearing sweat-absorbent inner garments. "The most important thing is choosing the right fabric type for the event's location. We need to be smarter in adapting," he said.
