Couple arrested in France after five infant remains found

A couple in southern France is in custody following the discovery of five infant remains in their home in Orange. The 32-year-old woman, identified as the presumed mother, is currently being questioned by authorities. Her partner, also 32, is in pre-trial detention.

The grim discovery was made by the partner himself. According to police reports, he grew concerned about his girlfriend's pregnancies, which she repeatedly concealed until late stages. His investigation at their home led him to human remains, prompting him to contact the authorities.

Forensic experts believe the remains, including those of four babies and one infant, belong to five different infants. The woman reportedly gave birth at home on Sunday before being taken to the hospital. She was released and immediately taken into custody on Wednesday. The baby born on Sunday, a boy, is reported to be in good health. The couple also has two older children, aged eight and nine.
