Couple Dies in Uiwang Apartment Fire; Six Injured

A tragic fire in Uiwang has claimed the lives of a couple and left several others injured, casting a pall over the community. The blaze erupted on the 14th floor of a 20-story apartment building in Naeson-dong, Gyeonggi Province, around 10:30 AM. Firefighters responded swiftly, but the fire had already inflicted devastating consequences.

The 60-something male resident of the 14th-floor apartment, identified as 'Mr. K,' was found deceased after apparently falling. His wife, in her 50s, identified as 'Ms. N,' was discovered dead inside their home. Six other residents sustained minor injuries, primarily from smoke inhalation, while 11 individuals were safely evacuated. Thankfully, no further casualties were reported.

Investigators discovered a note in the apartment, believed to be from Mr. K, which reportedly detailed financial hardships. This discovery adds a layer of complexity to the ongoing investigation into the fire's origin and the tragic deaths. The fire was largely extinguished by 11:21 AM, with all operations concluding by 12:35 PM.
